Are We the First Civilization in the Universe?
Mankind likes to think of itself as the crowning achievement of creation. According to that idea, there is no other species on our planet, or even in the rest of the universe, that is as intelligent and advanced as we are.
But does this immodest self-assessment really correspond to reality? Is mankind really the first and only highly developed civilization in the universe?
If we rather assume that our blue home planet was home to another, not less intelligent species before the emergence of Homo sapiens: How could we prove this today?

You are all so narrow minded. Your definition of intelligent life seems to be bipedal humanoids on a planet similar to Earth. I believe life will form anywhere there is sufficient energy to sustain it. Creatures living in gaseous planets like Jupiter or even living energy foems grazing off the radiant energy of those trillions of suns are just as likely
