Why Pluto Is No Longer a Planet!

On the 18th of February 1930, another representative was added to our planetary system. Since its discovery at that time, Pluto was a member of our immediate neighboring planets for more than 7 decades.

But August 24, 2006 spelled the galactic end for the contemplative celestial body: Pluto was deprived of its status as an official planet, whereby our planetary system finally lost its ninth and outermost representative.

But what were the circumstances that led the experts to take this drastic step? Why Pluto was finally put into a different class of celestial bodies and what the Kuiper belt is.
