Michio Kaku: “This Discovery Rewrites Our Understanding of the Cosmos”
The recent discovery of star cluster M92, located about 27,000 light-years from Earth, has stirred a scientific sensation. Previously, most astronomers believed the Milky Way housed all the universe’s stars, a notion only 90 years old. However, M92’s newly calculated age, estimated at around 13.8 billion years or possibly more, challenges our understanding of the universe’s age.
This cluster of densely packed stars appears to be as ancient as the universe itself, or even older. This finding not only potentially revises the universe’s estimated age but also offers new insights into cosmic evolution, potentially rewriting our understanding of the Big Bang and the universe’s history.
